About Our Nation

Cook’s Ferry Indian Band is a Nlaka’pamux First Nations government located in the Central Interior region of British Columbia.

 

Our strong and thriving community comprises approximately 384 Band members with roughly 15% residing on reserve and 85% residing off reserve.

 

We are a recognized and diverse community connected to our Nlaka'pamux language, culture and land, with sustained economic prosperity for future generations.

 

Our mission is to understand individual roles, responsibilities and to be respectful of others’ roles and responsibilities.

 

We aim to empower our community through:

  • Protecting our Aboriginal rights, title, and culture

  • Contributing to the health and well being of our People

  • Ensuring economic development opportunities are pursued

  • Delivering cultural programs and activities

  • Effectively leading with strong governance

We are governed by a Chief and three Councilors.
